Reserve exposing anesthesia teams until absolutely necessary. Consider a three team weekly rotation.
Maintain the Physician-led Anesthesia Care Team model, in the OR and ICU, especially when caring for these critically ill patients.
Anesthesiologists are uniquely trained and qualified to deliver range of care from bedside to OR to ICU, and these skills are irreplaceable.
Consider using Anesthesiologists as Intensivist, and CRNAs as ICU nurses. Avoid using them in less acute settings such as screening or triage. Don’t risk exposing and losing your most valuable team members!
